Astro Pitchers to Report to Camp on Feb. 19
The Houston Astros are scheduled to open spring training in Kissimmee, Fla., on Feb. 19 for pitchers, catchers and any injured players with the rest of the team reporting Feb. 24, Manager Hal Lanier announced last week.
The first workout for the players reporting Feb. 19 is set for Feb. 20, Lanier said. All other players will have their first workout Feb. 25.
The NL Western Division champions open their grapefruit league season March 7 when they play host to the Dodgers at Osceola County Stadium. The Astros have 17 scheduled games in Kissimmee including matchups with the World Champion New York Mets on March 15 and American League champion Boston Red Sox on March 31.
The 1987 regular season gets underway April 6 at the Astrodome when the Astros play host to the Dodgers in a three-game series.
