SDSU Cross-Country Team Finishes Seventh in Japan Meet

The Milan (Italy) team set a course record of 2 hours 1 minute 16 seconds to win the 1986 Japan Women’s Interuniversity Ekiden in Osaka Saturday. The San Diego State cross-country team, which won the first Ekiden in 1983, finished seventh in 2:07.59. The event is a 35-kilometer distance relay.

Tokyo Women’s College finished second, also breaking the old course record of 2:03.26 set last year by the Osaka Physical Education College, with a time of 2:01.39. Leningrad was third in 2:03.37. Twenty-seven teams from nine countries competed in the race.
