NEW YORK — The American Bible Society said the Chinese government has waived all import duties on equipment for setting up the Amity Press in Nanking, which is to give priority to producing the Scriptures in Chinese.
The society said the waiver saves about $1.9 million in costs of the project being carried out jointly by the world’s Bible societies. It still will cost about $5 million in purchasing, shipping and installing the presses, bindery and computerized typesetting machinery.
