Fragrant Christmas trees from Oregon, Washington and Northern California began arriving in downtown Los Angeles--another sign of the holiday season. At the tree auction market at 8th and Alameda streets, hawkers offered Douglas firs and blue-tipped Noble firs straight off railroad cars and trucks from the north. Prices averaged from $25 for a six-foot Douglas to $60 for six-foot Nobles. “These trees are fresh-cut from Oregon--even got one here with a bird nest in it!” one auctioneer called out.
