The NCAA Committee on Infractions has approved USC’s request to offer five additional football scholarships in 1987, bringing the total to 20 for the year.

The NCAA originally limited USC to 15 scholarships in 1987 instead of the normal 30 as a penalty for violations in the Trojans’ football program in 1984 and 1985.

The school was limited to 22 football scholarships in 1986, the first year of its two-year probation by the NCAA.
