A 67-year-old woman suffered a broken hip and right arm Tuesday when she was knocked over by two men fighting over a place in line inside the Newhall office of the Department of Motor Vehicles, police said.
The woman, Corrine Dean of Canyon Country, was standing in line about 10:30 a.m., when the men behind her began arguing and then fighting, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Dan Cox said.
The men, Robert Ellis, 22, of Newhall and Lester Bible, 49, of Saugus made citizens’ arrests of each other, then signed battery complaints against each other at the sheriff’s Santa Clarita Valley substation, Cox said.
They were released on their promise to appear in Municipal Court in Newhall to answer the complaints.
Dean was listed in good condition at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia, a nurse there said.
