Former Ram linebacker Jack Pardee was named football coach at the University of Houston, replacing Bill Yeoman, who recently resigned to become executive director of athletic relations. Pardee, 50, coached the Chicago Bears and Washington Redskins of the NFL and took both teams to the playoffs. He also coached the Houston Gamblers of the United States Football League in 1984 and 1985. Houston, under Yeoman, was 1-10 this season.
