Gov. George Deukmejian will take the oath of office for his second term on Monday, Jan. 5, on the west steps of the Capitol. The governor’s inaugural committee said Deukmejian and his wife, Gloria, will attend a reception that evening in the Capitol rotunda ($625 a ticket) and later will go to a grand inaugural ball ($100 a person) at the Sacramento Community Convention Center. The inaugural will be kicked off the night of Sunday, Jan. 4, with an “entertainment gala” of performers, who will be announced later. Tickets range from $25 to $130.
