Santa Look-Alike Robs German Bank
Two men, disguised as the German Santa Claus and his helper, robbed a bank in the small community of Kiebitzreihe and fled with about $15,000 in bundles wrapped with red ribbons, police said Friday.
They said the heist took place last week when a man dressed like Nicolaus, the German version of St. Nick, brandished a long-barreled revolver and demanded money from bank employees.
The armed robber, who wore a red-and-white coat and a mask with a long white beard and bushy false eyebrows, stuffed the loot in a sack and retreated toward a door where his helper, dressed as Knecht Ruprecht, was waiting for him.
Ruprecht, by tradition, metes out punishment to bad children.
