BOCA RATON, Fla. — Megan Neyer and double Olympic gold medalist Greg Louganis won the three-meter springboard championships Saturday in the first Mission Bay Diving Challenge.
The unusual format had the eight divers in each event squaring off one-on-one through three rounds. The first two rounds of the springboard event were Friday, with the finals Saturday at the Mission Bay Aquatics Center.
Neyer, who trains at Mission Bay, topped Wendy Williams of Miami, 540.10 to 508.15, in the women’s final. Louganis, who swept the men’s diving events at the Los Angeles Games, beat his Mission Bay teammate Kent Ferguson, 738.10 to 691.45.
In the third-place competition, Mark Bradshaw beat Ohio State teammate Pat Jeffrey, 628.60 to 580.60, and Kelly McCormick of Ohio State downed Michele Mitchell of Mission Bay, 484.75 to 483.05.
