Mexico City to Boost Police Budget by 72%

MEXICO CITY — Authorities have decided to increase Mexico City’s law enforcement budget by 72% to $93.5 million next year to combat a growing crime wave, the mayor’s office said in a press release.
Most of the money will go to increasing salaries of the 23,000-member police force, remodeling the police academy, buying new squad cars and making the court system more efficient, the press release said.
