Under the teaming agreement, Hughes Aircraft’s Radar Systems Group will have lead responsibility to develop the radar for the Air Force’s advanced tactical fighter. GE’s Aerospace Electronic Systems Department of Utica, N.Y., will be principal subcontractor. Hughes has already submitted information to Northrop and Lockheed, the two firms that won prime contracts to develop the fighter. Westinghouse is likely to be the principal competition against Hughes.
