U.S. Costa Rica Envoy Resigns
Associated Press
WASHINGTON —
The U.S. ambassador to Costa Rica, Lewis Tambs, has resigned his post and will return to Arizona State University where he is a tenured professor, the State Department said today.

Tambs reportedly has been urging Costa Rica to become more deeply involved in supporting the U.S.-backed Nicaraguan contra forces.
