The Region : Ex-Principal Gets 12 Years in Molestings

Share

A former principal was sentenced to 12 years in prison for molesting three boys at Carpinteria’s Main School and Summerland Elementary School. Virgil Williams, 54, of Carpinteria served as principal at the two schools for 13 years before he was arrested Feb. 11. Initially charged with seven felony counts of lewd conduct with six boys over five years, Williams was convicted in September on three counts and acquitted on three. Santa Barbara Superior Court jurors were unable to reach a verdict on the seventh count. “The defendant is attracted to young males, whether or not he now admits it,” said Deputy Dist. Atty. Nancy Sieh in arguing for the maximum 12-year sentence. “These are not isolated instances.”
