Officers Report No Breaks in Search for Girl

Investigators searching for clues in the disappearance of a 7-year-old South Pasadena girl who has been missing since Thursday have followed up hundreds of leads without any major breaks.

The girl, Phoebe Hue-Ru Ho, disappeared Thursday morning after she left home to walk to Arroyo Vista School four blocks away.

“We’ve been getting at least 50 leads a day from people calling . . . possible sightings, but nothing’s panned out,” Police Lt. Doug Brown said Sunday. “Although we assume she was abducted, we can’t find any witnesses who saw her getting picked up.”

The disappearance spurred a major search after Phoebe was reported missing Thursday evening by her parents.

At least 4,000 flyers in Chinese and English have been posted or handed out, and police, neighbors and school officials conducted a door-to-door search in a square-mile area around her home.

Phoebe’s parents--Kenneth and Sharon Ho--said they know of no reason why their daughter, described as “gregarious,” “optimistic” and “always smiling,” would run away.
