The reputed underboss of the Colombo crime family owns a bus company that has held a $500,000-a-year contract with New York City’s Board of Education for seven years, authorities said. Joseph Tomasello still has the contract to transport students, although he was convicted Dec. 1 of running a ring that bought stolen video cassette recorders. The city was unaware of Tomasello’s ownership of Anchor Bus Co., and federal authorities failed to notify the board after his conviction, a school spokesman said.
