“The New Born King--A Festival of Carols.” Video Arts International. $39. The English seem to approach Christmas with more dignity than we do. In America, the Chipmunks sing about which toy they want. Across the Atlantic, the choir of Westminster Cathedral solemnly assembles in that ancient, echo-heavy church to offer traditional carols celebrating the Nativity. This slightly stuffy presentation deftly mixes choral selections with solo hymns (exquisitely sung by Eirian James, Benjamin Luxon and boy wonder Aled Jones), secular readings (delightfully interpreted by Emlyn Williams) and a running narrative of the Story (somberly intoned by Cardinal Hume). The real star, though, is the cathedral itself. Information: (212) 799-7798.
