EPA Has Record Year for Pollution Cases

The Environmental Protection Agency said Tuesday it had a record year in bringing civil and criminal cases against polluters.
In the fiscal year that closed Sept. 30, the EPA said it referred 342 court cases to the Justice Department, up from 276 the year before. The Justice Department in turn brought 245 cases to court, up from 214 the year before.
