Share

The 13,000-member county local of the Teamsters Union voted to retain incumbent Secretary-Treasurer Gerold G. Scott, who beat challenger Dan L. Barter by only 47 votes.

Scott received 1,955 votes to Barter’s 1,908 in elections that ended Tuesday. Barter, who was fired as business agent by Scott, has indicated he will appeal the results.

Scott, 58, has held the $75,000-a-year post for three years. Under the Teamsters organizational structure, the secretary-treasurer is the chief operating officer and outranks the president.
