Mexicans Cut Down on Meat Consumption

MEXICO CITY — Mexicans are eating only half as much meat as they did in 1981, and sales of junk food and soft drinks also have declined, Clara Judisman, director of the National Consumer Institute, said.

The institute is developing a campaign to educate consumers about buying in large quantities to obtain lower prices and avoid price increases in the coming months, she said.
