Convicted tax rebel Irwin Schiff, author of the best-selling book “How Anyone Can Stop Paying Income Tax,” entered a federal prison in Loretto, Pa., to begin serving a three-year term. Schiff, 58, of Hamden, Conn., was convicted of failing to pay more than $49,000 in taxes for 1980, 1981 and 1982. Schiff said he has not changed his opinion that paying income taxes should be voluntary. He sold more than 180,000 copies of his book, which defended his opinion of voluntary tax payments.
