Beverly Beyette’s Dec. 10 View story on retired Rabbi Leonard Beerman (“Roast Yields More Light Than Heat”) should be expanded into a text for study by all religious teachers. In his search to find himself, Leonard Beerman found answers that can light the way for future generations

Having known Leonard since he arrived in Los Angeles, and, back in my hometown of New Haven as a congregant of his rabinnical college roommate, Bob Goldberg, I don’t know who influenced whom, but Rabbi Goldberg was of the same cut, forthright in defending those who merited justice.

Civilization and all that people aspire to attain will survive the always present dangers of war by having such men as these.
