Helping the Poor and Limits on Family Size

Share

First Mrs. Berry compliments herself for having the perfect family of two children who had the benefit of music lessons and scouts and now have college degrees. Then she states that when she donates to the poor she “makes sure it is not to a large family” because they don’t deserve it. They have brought it (the poverty) on themselves!

Apparently she feels the children should suffer too? After all, they had a choice about being born, didn’t they? Interesting that she uses the word “breeding” in her letter. That terminology is usually in reference to animals. Whatever token amount she donates would be better spent on educating herself. However that could prove to be futile; people who are selectively compassionate often choose to be selectively ignorant.
