VIDEORGY: When Stevie Ray Vaughn’s upcoming video, “Superstition” (which was shot here at the Variety Arts Center), hits the airwaves later this month, don’t flick your channel-changer before the clip’s over. When the song ends, Vaughn puts down his guitar, winks at the camera and we suddenly hear someone saying, “Here, kitty, kitty.” The clip then cuts to Stevie Wonder (who, of course, wrote “Superstition”), who’s holding a black cat. . . . Speaking of the Vaughn clan, our pick hit Christmas album of the month, just out from Epic Records, is “An Austin Rhythm & Blues Christmas.” Originally released in 1983 on the tiny Texas label, Austin Records, the compilation offers a pair of Fabulous Thunderbirds tracks, “Merry Christmas Darling” and “(Rockin’) Winter Wonderland” (featuring Stevie Ray’s brother, Jimmy Vaughn), plus a Charlie Sexton version of Elvis’ “Santa, Bring My Baby Back to Me” and a pair of Christmas covers by blues belter Lou Ann Barton.. . . And wouldn’t you know it? When the Fabulous Thunderbirds headlined the Wiltern Theatre Teusday night, guess what holiday selection the band encored with--”(Rockin’) Winter Wonderland.” Stevie Ray Vaughn was also on hand for the band’s raucous show, dueling guitars on several songs with his brother, Jimmy, as well as Chicago blues legend Buddy Guy.
