Redondo to Get Beach Restrooms

Share

The county Department of Beaches and Harbors will replace two restrooms in Redondo Beach next year, using prefabricated structures for the first time on county beaches.

“This is a vast departure from the site-built restrooms where it might take you 90 days . . . and cost you two to three times as much,” said Larry Charness, chief of planning. “And if it works, certainly we’ll try them at other locations.”

The department hopes to replace the restrooms at Avenues G and I before summer, he said, but may have to wait until after Labor Day.

The replacement will cost about $200,000 and will be paid for with state funds generated from Proposition 18, the 1984 bond act for recreation, Charness said.
