Kiwanis Gives Downey Police Anti-Drug Funds

Share

The Downey Kiwanis Club has donated $1,200 to the Police Department so that it can buy two films on drug abuse to be used in conjunction with the city’s anti-drug program.

The check was given to Police Chief William Martin and City Councilman Randy Barb by Kiwanis President Gale Dalton and Director Richard Holmes.

In a second public service project, the Downey club last week also treated 25 physically handicapped youngsters from Rancho Los Amigos Hospital to a Christmas party held in conjunction with Rio Hondo Country Club. The country club provided dinners for the youngsters, while the Kiwanis Club members treated them to a visit from Santa Claus, who brought gifts for each of the children.
