Former junior world champion Martin Svargerko of Czechoslovakia soared 99 meters on his second jump to win the 70-meter World Cup ski jumping competition at Chamonix, France.

Svargerko, who took the junior world title in 1985, won the event with 205.5 points after being tied for the top jump in the first round. He, Andreas Bauer of West Germany and Kai Nokelainen of Finland all jumped 83.5 meters.
