Gutsy People

After years of hard work with nothing but the internal rewards of a dream coming to realization, Dick Rutan and Jeana Yeager flew around the world and fulfilled Burt Rutan’s dream design. And with them went the fondest wishes of gutsy people everywhere.

Interestingly, gutsy people have been in the news lately, contrasted against people of lesser character. Note how Ross Perot, Burt and Dick Rutan, Jeana Yeager and Lee Iacocca shine against the background chicanery of political types?

History has always turned a deaf ear to mankind’s entreaties for a cheap substitute for courage, vision and perseverance. Few people wish to suffer praise of virtue because virtues are old-fashioned. Only vital, energetic and promising nations need embrace them. They are too unspectacular, too passe and too much work for heirs of a laid-back status quo to bother about.

This has got to change or a sinking nation will sink with all of us aboard. It’s about time that virtue got the attention it deserves! Come on, America! Let’s encourage character by praising it!
