‘HANNAH SENESH’ AT THE ZEPHYR

“Hannah Senesh,” a play based on the writings of a World War II heroine, will make its West Coast premiere Jan. 17 at the Zephyr (Theatre.
Senesh, a volunteer parachutist for the British army, was captured, tortured and killed in Hungary in 1944 while attempting to save millions of Jews threatened with extermination.
The production, which has played in New York, Washington, D.C., and before Senesh’s mother and brother at their kibbutz in Israel, uses music, songs and dramatic interpretations based on Senesh’s poetry and diary.
David Schechter, an Emmy award winner for a WGBH-TV production of Elizabeth Swados’ “Nightclub Cantata,” wrote and directed the one-woman show. Lori Wilner( is featured.
Show times are Thursdays through Saturdays, 8 p.m; Sundays 3 and 7 p.m.
