The Region : Eu Attack Case on Hold

Share

Charges against a suspect accused of attacking California Secretary of State March Fong Eu in her Fremont Place home will be refiled next month when she returns from a trip to the Far East, said Los Angeles County Deputy Dist. Atty. Tony Barreto. Two counts of residential burglary and residential robbery filed against Gregory Lee Moore, 27, were dismissed recently because Eu was unavailable to testify about the hatchet-attack on her Nov. 10. However, Moore was held to answer on eight other charges, including five counts of residential burglary and three charges of residential robbery. When he is certain that Eu is available to testify, Barreto said he plans to refile the charges involving the state official and ask the court to consolidate the two cases against Moore. Eu’s trip to Taiwan was scheduled as a combination trade mission and vacation, a spokesman for her said.
