What Didn’t Reagan Know?

Share

I have never read such vitriolic letters (Letters, Dec. 16) from mean-spirited persons since I have taken the Los Angeles Times, which is well over 30 years.

None of the writers has any more notion of the complexities of what the day-to-day problems of our government are than I do.

But at least I am aware of the fact that I don’t know and am not trying to tell the President and Congress what to do. . . .

I continue to be loyal to the President of my country until all the facts are in. They may never be, not because people want the truth, but they want to run the presidency from an armchair with the TV on, and because whatever plans were made have been so screwed up by the media from the time the first hostage begged them to keep their mouths shut.

I believe that every letter insulting our President is giving aid and comfort to every enemy we have and bringing discredit to himself.
