Detroit holds the record for the number of children shot to death in a U.S. city so far this year, the Detroit Free Press reported. The paper said that 33 youngsters under age 17 were homicide victims and eight died in suicides or firearms accidents. It compared the total, 41, to 15 children killed with weapons of any kind in Chicago and 26 murders of children in Houston.
