A tent shelter for the homeless in downtown Los Angeles will be allowed to stand through this week, the state Department of General Services said today.

W.J. Anthony, director of the state agency in charge of the site across the street from City Hall, decided to extend the permit until 5 p.m. Saturday, department spokeswoman Anne Garbeff said. The permit had been set to expire on Tuesday.
