Donors Fund Trip for Charity-Minded Scouts
A Girl Scout troop will get to visit an amusement park as planned even though they spent the funds in their treasury to make the holidays brighter for a needy family, a spokesman said Monday.
The nine members of Cadet Troop 240 last week spent their entire $200 on Christmas gifts and food for a mother and her three children. The money had been earmarked for the trip to a Virginia amusement park. After reading a newspaper account of the Scouts’ gesture, a local couple who asked to remain anonymous and the Red Men’s Conococheague Tribe 84 of Williamsport donated a combined $450 to the troop’s treasury.
