Four players from the Swift Current Broncos, a junior hockey team from Saskatchewan, were killed when their bus slid off an icy road into a ditch en route to Regina for a Western Hockey League game.

The accident occurred during snowfall and icy rain about four miles outside Swift Current. Eighteen other players, between the ages of 17 and 21, and six other people, were injured and taken to a hospital for treatment.
