PEKING — Premier Zhao Ziyang will visit five East European countries, and three top East European leaders will come to China in 1987, Foreign Minister Wu Xueqian said Wednesday.
Wu did not give dates or name the countries in a wide-ranging end-of-year interview with the official New China News Agency, but East European sources said Zhao will visit Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, East Germany and Bulgaria.
The sources said Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria and Hungary are likely to reciprocate the visits. East German leader Erich Honecker and Polish leader Wojciech Jaruzelski visited China last fall.
