Christopher Joyce is right (Calendar Letters, Dec. 21). Critics ought to stop picking on Billy Joel about the “wimpy” music he’s been turning out lately. The guy can’t help it. He’s no longer in pain. He turned to mush when he met Christie Brinkley.

I live in fear of what Bruce Springsteen’s next album will be like now that he’s married. Face it . . . guys who are deliriously happy don’t write things like Joel’s “The Stranger” and Springsteen’s “Point Blank.”
