Costa Mesa : Sea Farming to Be Taught:

An unusual marine science course that analyzes mariculture--sea farming--will be offered at Orange Coast College this spring. The community college said the course will study how seafood can be domestically raised and harvested, thus providing new ways of feeding people and also new business opportunities. “Farming the ocean is a reality worldwide,” said Dennis Kelly, an OCC professor of marine biology who will teach the new course. Mariculture is a big industry in Japan and a growing one in California, officials have said.
