Pope Names Archbishop to Head Belgrade Region

BELGRADE, Yugoslavia —
Pope John Paul II has appointed theology professor Franc Perko archbishop of a newly created Roman Catholic province in Yugoslavia, the newspaper Vecernje Novosti reported Saturday.
His seat will be in Belgrade, the capital.
