Afghan warplanes dropped 15 bombs on the Pakistani village of Arandu near the Afghan border, killing six Pakistanis and injuring 14, Pakistani police in Peshawar said. Four people were reported killed instantly and a woman and a child died later of injuries. Pakistan has charged that Soviet-built warplanes crossed the border to attack Pakistani territory at least 600 times last year. Pakistan regularly files diplomatic protests, but the Soviet-backed Afghan government dismisses the charges and accuses Pakistan of violating its airspace and backing Afghan guerrillas in the seven-year-old war.
