Sears, Roebuck & Co., Chicago, named Alfred Goldstein, 54, as president of a new specialty unit within the company’s merchandise group.

Goldstein has been president of the specialty retailing sector of American Can Co. Before joining American Can, Goldstein worked with Sears for 23 years, including serving as vice president-women’s apparel.
