TORONTO — Former Ontario Solicitor General Ken Keyes has been reinstated as the province’s top law-enforcement official a month after he had resigned for breaking a liquor law.
Keyes resigned in early December after a police investigation determined that he should be charged for illegally drinking while on an Ontario provincial police patrol boat off Kingston last summer.
Keyes later pleaded guilty to the minor liquor offense and paid a $53 fine. The incident occurred a few days before Keyes announced a crackdown on boaters who drink and drive.
