Fluor Chosen to Build Waste-to-Energy Plant

Fluor Corp. said the Houston division of its Fluor Daniel unit has been awarded a $31-million contract by New Jersey-based Vicon Recovery Systems and the Connecticut Resource Recovery Authority to build a waste-to-energy facility in Wallingford, Conn.

Fluor, an Irvine engineering and construction company, said the plant will be operated by Connecticut Light and Power. The plant is expected to produce 10 megawatts of power daily, enough to service about 5,000 homes. The 420 tons of solid waste burned each day will come from Wallingford and its surrounding communities.
