Coppin St. Ends USIU’s Win Streak at Five

SAN DIEGO — Steve Miller scored 30 points and Earl Lee added 13 Friday to lead Coppin State (Maryland) College past United States International University, 81-74, in a nonconference college basketball game at Golden Hall.
The loss snapped USIU’s five-game winning streak. The Gulls are 5-8. Coppin State improved to 2-10.
Coppin State moved out to a 41-38 halftime lead and pushed its lead to as many as nine points before USIU rallied to tie, 72-72, with 1:30 remaining. Coppin State outscored USIU, 9-2, the rest of the way.
Joe Yezback scored 33 points to lead USIU. Yezback was the only Gull to reach double figures.
