Stone Truss Co. Inc. has been organized in Oceanside with the goal of producing and delivering roof trusses for single-family and multifamily units in three weeks, compared with the customary five to eight weeks, according to Hewette J. Stone, the firm’s president.

The company is a division of La Mesa-based Stone Development Co., which has been in the modular home building and real estate development business since 1981. The new firm is on a two-acre site at 507 Jones Road, adjacent to the Oceanside Airport.

The company will use a Hewlett Packard computer system with Clary Corp. software to engineer trusses. The design and utility of these trusses is enhanced by Stone engineers, who work with Clary, creating the design and working from plans to check specifications and ensure a correct fit, Stone said.

He said the firm will have a quicker delivery time than other concerns because of its experienced staff, headed by general manager Larry Pickett, who learned his craft from his father.

Other top employees of the company have several years experience in the field and come from the established firm purchased by Stone.
