Western Digital Gets $7.3-Million Order

Western Digital Corp. said it has received a $7.3-million order for its hard disk controller boards from Amstrad in the United Kingdom.

The boards will be used by the Essex, England-based company in its IBM XT-compatible personal computers, which the company began marketing in September. They will be manufactured at Western Digital’s plant in Cork, Ireland, and will be shipped to Amstrad throughout the first half of the calendar year.

Western Digital, headquartered in Irvine, manufactures computer products for the OEM and end-user market.
