British Diplomat New Hong Kong Governor

LONDON —
Britain today named diplomat and Mandarin scholar David Wilson as the new governor of Hong Kong with the task of steering the British colony toward its return to China in 1997.
The Foreign Office said Queen Elizabeth II approved the appointment of Wilson, 51, to succeed Sir Edward Youde, who died in December.
