THE ‘PLATOON’ WAR

Not all audiences are action-seeking, as Manning put it. To a point, yes, they are, but most, if not all adults and kids I know would rather have seen “Platoon” than “Rambo.”

I am 15 years old. I’m not old enough to remember Vietnam, and my history books never say much, if we ever get to the Vietnam war.

“Platoon,” with some history that my mother supplied, helped me to realize what Vietnam was. It really moved me, to put it mildly. I hope others who never knew Vietnam see “Platoon,” because it was real life.
