Carlo Thraenhardt of West Germany set a world indoor record in the high jump by clearing 7 feet 10 1/2 inches during a five-nation international track and field meet Friday night at Simmerath, West Germany.
Thraenhardt broke the record of 7-10, set by Dietmar Mogenburg of West Germany last Feb. 24.
Igor Palkin of the Soviet Union holds the outdoor record of 7-10 3/4.
