Kiwis, If They Lose, Would Help Australians

New Zealand’s America’s Cup syndicate has indicated that should it lose the challenger finals, it will offer assistance to the Australian defender.

“Our syndicate position is, number one, to win the America’s Cup,” skipper Chris Dickson said Saturday.

“Failing that, we certainly will be challenging in 1990, and the easiest place geographically for us would be in Australia.”

Challenge final rival Dennis Conner said: “We’ve had some bickering, but if Chris (won the challenge trials and) wanted our help, we’d offer our assistance to him.”
